About Us
The Collinsville Fire Department currently provides fire protection services to the City of Collinsville and to a small portion of Collinsville Township, commonly referred to as the Collinsville Fire Protection District. The Fire Department provides emergency medical services (EMS) to the same areas at the advanced life support (ALS) level, the highest level of pre-hospital emergency care available.
The Collinsville Fire Department is comprised of 36 highly trained and motivated Firefighter/Paramedics. Among those 36 members, there are 8 Lieutenants and 4 Captains. The Administrative Staff includes 3 sworn Fire Department Administrators, a Fire Prevention Inspector, an Executive Assistant, and a part-time Administrative Assistant. We have two fire stations that house both fire apparatus and ambulances. On average Collinsville is the 2nd busiest fire department in the metro east, running an estimated 4300+ calls in 2022. The City of Collinsville encompasses 15.3 square miles, and the Collinsville Fire Protection District 7.9 square miles, for a total of 23.2 square miles.
The firefighter/paramedics work a 4-shift, 24-hours schedule. To ensure the daily minimum of 8 firefighters on duty, an additional day of work is scheduled every 40 days. Current firefighter/paramedic base pay is $90,537 obtained at year 4. Probationary pay (year 1) is 75% of base pay ($67,902). There is a 30-mile residency requirement which includes all of the metro east and reaches into St. Charles County, Missouri to the west, Jefferson County, MO to the south. In addition to the base pay the City of Collinsville offers paid training, education incentives, and full tuition reimbursement. Another great benefit offered by the City of Collinsville is the health insurance. This offers a $10 copay for doctors’ visits, $25 copay urgent care, and $50 copay emergency room visit.
