Food and Beverage Tax
To submit Food and Beverage Tax, you will need your state sales tax return (ST-1).
The Food and Beverage Tax is a 1% tax imposed on the sale of food and beverages prepared for immediate consumption, typically restaurants, though other types of businesses may be required to collect this tax as well. Businesses should collect the tax at the time of the sale and remit to the City on a monthly basis. Payments for each month are due by the 25th of the following month. The attached Ordinance provides complete information on the types of businesses required to collect the tax and requirements for collecting and remitting the tax to the City.
Hotel/Motel Tax
To submit Hotel/Motel Tax, you will need your Illinois Retailer's Sales and Use Tax or Hotel Operator's Tax returns for the month. Additionally, to receive credit for permanent residents, you will need a list of permanent residents and their receipts.
The Hotel/Motel Tax is a 9% tax imposed on the rental or lease of hotel and motel accommodations. Businesses should collect the tax at the time the rental or lease payment is made and remitted to the City on a monthly basis. Payments for each month are due by the last day of the following month. The attached Ordinance provides complete information on the requirements for collecting and remitting the tax to the City.
