Expanding, relocating, or opening a brand new business can challenging. Our staff are here to guide you through the process every step of the way. We know you can choose to establish your business anywhere and we are happy you have chosen to invest in Collinsville.

Land Use & Zoning Districts
All new or expanded businesses require zoning approval. We encourage you to both review the Community Development FAQ page and speak with a planner (contact information below) before signing a lease or purchasing property to ensure the zoning of the property is appropriate for your intended use.

Permits
Most commercial properties require, at a minimum, a Commercial Occupancy Inspection, but may also require site development plans, architectural plans, Building Permits, and Sign Permits. Planners and inspectors in the Community Development Department will help you determine which plans and permits are required for your project.

If you are need of architectural or engineering services for your property, the City has a list of architects and engineers that regularly work with the City here. Please note that these are not recommendations, but a list of potential contacts for your project.

Licenses
Licenses or registrations are required for all businesses operating within the City of Collinsville. Additional licenses are required for video gaming operations and liquor sales. The links below provide additional information and applications for these licenses and registrations.
