Building Community

Neighborhoods are the foundations of our community. The best place to start getting involved is on your own block. Below are some resources and ideas on how you can get involved with your community and connect with your neighbors.

Ways to get Involved

Neighborhood Events

Block Party

Neighborhood Associations

Neighborhood Association

Neighborhood associations are a great way to connect with your neighbors and work towards common goals. Neighborhood associations are different from homeowners associations (HOAs). HOAs have legal authority to enforce rules and regulations within a subdivision and may maintain common areas while neighborhood associations are a group of neighbors and/or business owners who work together for improvements such as neighborhood safety, beautification and social activities. Neighborhood associations can also act as an advocacy group for your neighborhood issues and provide a  means for members to organize interests and purse collective action. Below are some resources for starting a neighborhood association.
