The City of Collinsville wants to ensure that all residential and non-residential properties are safe, maintained, and meet the minimum requirements. We act to accomplish this through the City’s Occupancy Permit Program. The Occupancy Permit Program provides inspections for residential and commercial properties located within the city limits and an Occupancy Permit is issued when a property passes the inspection.
The Commercial Occupancy Permit program applies to all new and relocating businesses within the City of Collinsville. An Occupancy Permit is required when the occupancy or ownership of commercial building (including tenant spaces) changes and for all new commercial developments The Community Development Department schedules inspections for new businesses and those relocating to another address within the City as part of the Commercial Occupancy Program.
Seller of the property is responsible for applying for an Occupancy Permit prior to sale of the property at least seven (7) days before the date of transfer of title or effective date of contract for deed or in case of a change of renter, tenant, or lessee.
If selling "As-Is", the owner must still apply for an Occupancy Permit, however, if the seller and buyer submit an "As-Is" form, the buyer will be responsible for the work required by the Occupancy Inspection and for obtaining the Occupancy Permit.
Please note that all business within the City of Collinsville requires a business license or registration. All applications are cross referenced at the time of submittal to ensure your business is on record.
