The City of Collinsville is breaking ground on a new project at the City’s Wastewater Treatment Plant to upgrade the facilities residual handling process. The project will convert the current inefficient process of lime stabilization and storage of the liquid bio-solids to a more efficient, sustainable, and environmentally safer process system of drying and pasteurizing the residuals. The completion of this project will provide greater flexibility and long-term cost control of residual disposal and reduce the odor produced at the facility.

Funding for this project was provided by a low interest loan from the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency’s Public Water Pollution Control Program (WPCLP). The WPCLP is funded by both state and federal sources. The $6,700,000 loan has a simple interest rate of 1.11% and will be repaid over 20 years. For more information on the project, please contact the Collinsville Wastewater Department.
