All businesses operating within the City of Collinsville are required to obtain a License or Registration, including businesses operated in traditional “brick and mortar” commercial locations (called Commercial Businesses) and businesses operated from your residence (called Home Occupations). The City has different regulations depending on where you operate your business, and therefore has separate Commercial Business and Home Occupation applications.

Additionally, the City distinguishes between Licenses and Registrations, based on the type of business you are operating. If your business type is a non-profit, civic, or fraternal organization, or is found on this list of exempt businesses, then you will need a Registration. If your business type is not a non-profit, civic, or fraternal organization or found on the list, then you will need a License.
